New Online Hosting and Printing
I am using a new online photo hosting and printing service which means there will be further updates and uprades to the site. I am doing a complete redesign with Flash and removing the Flickr slideshows. This shouldn’t take too terribly long but it puts pleny on my plate.
If you’d like to browse what’s currently hosting, go ahead and mosey on over to nmephoto.smugmug.com. If you’re looking for a gallery that has a password, please email me at nick@nmephoto.com to get the password. Please don’t be surprised if I ask how you’re associated with the gallery; some of my clients request extra privacy with their pictures and I of course will honor that as best I can.

A few weeks ago, my friends Dan and Paula threw a party for their son, Nathan. His 1st
year has past and he’s already grown quite a bit (walking a little and talking plenty)! I love taking pictures of kids like Nathan because he’s always so expressive and genuinely happy. Check out the pictures of Nathan partying down while opening presents and eating cake!
Ethan’s Birthday Party
Birthday parties are so much fun! I especially enjoy getting photos of kids’ faces while they are
playing games together; pure fun and elation. Ethan had a great party with several activities including a scavenger hunt and baking cookies with his friends. His parents hired Niki Land of Sprinkled With Words to come and teach the kids how to make sugar and chocolate chip cookies. Here are some of the photos.
WFTDA Work
Once a month (between March and September), the Texas Rollergirls hold their season games.
These games are a ton of fun to watch and even more fun to photograph. I love being able to catch all that action ring-side. I don’t put much of that work on here, but you can find it all on my Flickr site. Here are the most recent images.
Dallas World Aquarium
During a recent trip to Dallas, TX, I went to the Dallas World Aquarium to shoot a little bit. I’d never been there before and
didn’t expect such a diverse exhibit of animals (including primates, birds, a large cat, etc…). This aquarium really is quite amazing, I just wish I’d had more time to explore and photograph. One aspect I love about aquariums is not just the exhibits, but also peoples’ reactions to the animals they are watching; seeing the looks of awe and wonder adults as well as children is something quite extraordinary.
2008 Hotrod Honeys
Recently Texas Rollergirls team Hotrod Honeys contacted
me to photograph their team for the 2008 season. The women were astoundingly fantastic to work with; they had great ideas and took direction very well. Captains Cat Tastrophe and Rebellika have a lot to be proud of in their team. Be warned, though, there are a lot of photos in this set.
Kennedy Smith Wood
New baby pictures are up! Kennedy Smith Wood was welcomed into this world in December. Here she is a month old! Her parents (two friends of mine; Ali and Nelson) introduced us at zTejas over brunch. She’s quite the adorable baby and her parents have so much to be proud of. Her pictures are in the portraits gallery.

On December 29th, I went on a half-day cave diving expedition. We were a group of 8 plus 2 guides (whom
without I’d probably still be under Georgetown, TX). We spent nearly 4 hours stomping around way in the depths; mostly on our bellies in the mud. Against mine and the guides’ better judgment I took my camera with me (which was the whole point of the trip as it was a Christmas present from my girlfriend). I’m really happy I did and I’m thinking this could turn in to something bigger.
But for the moment, here are the current results.

I took some pictures for some friends, Doug and Robin, of their son, Clay. He’s such a cute baby. They’d been complaining for a while that they could never get a picture of him smiling. Since I’d promised them I’d do some portraits when he was first born, we all figured now would be as good a time as any (plus the other 4 or 5 times we’d scheduled a shoot didn’t work out very well - apparently babies get sick…). Clay was so much fun to work with, Mom and Dad were a great help too.
Check out the final product here.

The Downtown Austin Alliance held their annual tree lighting on December 1st. Despite the weather being decidedly un-Christmas like (warm and muggy), the event was a great success. I had the pleasure of photographing for the DAA. Events were hosted up and down Congress Ave. The local radio station KUT 90.5 FM helped sponsor the event by holding a sing-along with one of their DJ’s, during which kids in the audience were invited to go on stage. I had a great time shooting the event, partly because I learned a few things, including that I need better shoes. Check out the photos here.
